Facebook Florida’s 2019 Peak Wildfire Season Enflamed By Forests Downed Skip to main content

Last month, the Pensacola News Journal shined a spotlight on the latest lasting effects from Hurricane Michael making landfall in Florida in October 2018, and how they are complicating the state’s peak fire season in April and May.

Jim Karels, the Florida State Forester, has expressed sincere concern to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried that of the 72 million tons of forestry debris downed by Michael, approximately 90% remains on the ground, leaving the state under a severe threat of massive wildfires and flooding.

As the downed wood dries, communities face a significant threat that can lead to catastrophic fires that cost between $10 and $100 million in damages.

Countering The Florida Insurance Companies And Protecting Your Rights

At The Morgan Law Group P.A., our fire damage attorneys are focused on protecting our Florida residents from mounting homeowner insurance claims that October’s hurricane damage is still inflicting on our communities.

The increasing risk of wildfires pressing through our state over the next couple months, and any home, property, or business damage that results, could place residents is severe financial strain as the insurance companies respond with delays, underpayments, or even denied coverage to policyholders who are still reeling from the fallout of Hurricane Michael.

While the northwest part of Florida may contain the highest risk for the proliferation of wildfires caused by downed trees and debris, our accomplished attorneys know that these occurrences can happen anywhere throughout the state, without notice.

As the state continues the cleanup process, there is no denying the danger of fire damage is a real threat facing our residents. And if your home’s integrity is interrupted by fire, the continued devastation could be overwhelming.
