Facebook President Trump Takes Aim at Insurance Companies Business Interruption. Skip to main content

During an April 10, 2020 White House briefing, President Trump expressed his support for insurance companies to make payments for business interruption under policies, especially for the restaurant industry, taking aim at insurance companies that are denying payments while the State of Florida is under a stay-at-home order caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump stated: “If I had it, I expect to be paid.”

The President further stressed his support for businesses forced to close during the pandemic stating, “Companies have been paying for business interruption insurance for years and have never needed it. All of a sudden, they need it. And the insurance companies are not going to give it. We cannot let that happen.”

Clearly, Trump and the government are eyeing this issue as carriers continue to stand by their denial of claims resulting from the virus.
