Welcome St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

This month, our marketing coordinator, Kaitlyn Jacklin, had the opportunity to attend the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Fitness Volunteer Leadership Conference in Memphis, Tennessee, representing The Morgan Law Group P.A. as a Top Fundraising Team for the Miami Walk/Run last September.

This two-day conference allowed Kaitlyn to learn more about the St. Jude mission and hear the impact St. Jude has had on both patients and their families. She heard several testimonies from former patients, patient families, and volunteers about how St. Jude has changed their lives forever. She was also able to tour the hospital, where she was fortunate enough to see where all the fundraising efforts go and witness firsthand all that St. Jude does for children of all ages.

St. Jude Defines Purpose

St. Jude Defines Purpose & Strength in Children’s Medical Research

Children who have been diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening diseases receive treatment and care from world-renowned physicians and specialists at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The hospital was founded by Danny Thomas over 70 years ago, and since St. Jude opened its doors, doctors, researchers, and other medical professionals have helped to raise the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to over 80% today.

The best part about St. Jude is families never receive a bill, for anything. St. Jude pays for treatment, travel, housing, and food for both the patient and their family. St. Jude believes that the only thing a family should only focus on helping their child get better.

Providing Free Access to Children’s Medical Research Across the Globe

During her trip to Memphis, Kaitlyn learned St. Jude publishes and shares their life-saving research throughout the globe. Anyone in any medical field can easily access their findings for free. St. Jude wants to help raise the childhood cancer survival rate around the world, not just in their home state of Tennessee. Our Florida insurance claims attorneys and staff found this amazing, truly reflecting St. Jude’s commitment to ending childhood cancer on a global level.

Kaitlyn got to tour the hospital during her visit, and immediately realized St. Jude was unlike any other medical facility. The doctors and nurses use red wagons, instead of wheelchairs, to transport children with less severe cases to make them feel as “normal” as possible. And the hallways and rooms are full of color, patient artwork, and kids playing, which allows visitors and patients to forgot they are in hospital at all.

Additionally, something that stood out to Kaitlyn was that throughout the hospital, St. Jude has only one large dining/cafeteria area. This design was purposefully imagined by the founder, Danny Thomas, so doctors, nurses, staff, families, and patients can all eat together to collaborate, share ideas, and make friends.

In addition to learning more about St. Jude, Kaitlyn got to meet people from all over the nation, expanding our network, and learning more about how others find ways to get involved with St. Jude.
